Veracruz, Mexico, is where Reguera was born. Nena de la Reguera, her mother, was a Miss Veracruz who went on to become a journalist and television host. Reguera began her ballet training at the Instituto Veracruzano de la Cultura and later went on to study performance arts there. She moved to Los Angeles to study under Aaron Spicer, Lisa Robertson, and Joan Scheckel after leaving Veracruz to study at Televisa’s CEA. She then rose to prominence in the global entertainment industry as a well-known actress.
Reguera’s acting career began with her role in the telenovela Azul (1996), followed by Pueblo chico, infierno grande (1997), in which she co-starred with Verónica Castro and won the Heraldo award for best female acting, and Desencuentro, which was directed by Ernesto Alonso and was her third telenovela.
